"General" settings

Don't ask file name at start up - if this parameter is established, at start of the program Visual Comparer will not request serially names of files for comparison;
Create backup file - - if this parameter is established, at file saving after editing there accures automatic creation of backup copy with extension *.bak. The backup copy is created in the same catalogue where original;
Notify about external modifications of the opened files - if during work process any file is being updating from outside, Visual Comparer will warn you about attempt of change and will suggest to carry out comparison once again, taking in account changes accured. This function is useful by work with files in local networks.
Show placebar into the open file dialog - Show placebar into the open file dialog - the placebar provides shortcuts to places on your computer or the network from which you can open a file, such as the History folder, the desktop, or My Network Places. When you click a location, it will appear in Look in, and the files and folders in the selected location will be listed at the right. The option accessible only in Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
